The home of the Round Rock Express is the Dell Diamond; the park has a lot of amenities designed for comfort and enjoyment of the fans. The Express and Dell Computer Corporation agreed on a partnership that includes naming rights for the stadium in January 2000. The ballpark has received numerous awards, including being named “Best Double-A baseball in the country” by Baseball America in 2003. It was also featured in Baseball America 2005 “Great Parks Calendar” and most recently in “places of great baseball player,” ESPN card.

Dell Diamond Stadium Seating and Attendance

The stadium has 8,722 fixed seats with capacity of over 3,000 more folks in the grass berm beyond the outfield walls that extends from foul pole to foul pole.  Dell Diamond attendance grew to more than 11,000 more than 50 times in the first seven seasons, including a record crowd of 13,475 on June 16, 2006, when then Houston Astros pitcher Roger Clemens was presented at the Dell Diamond.

The Round Rock Express has created a new double A record attendance in the first five seasons as a member of the League of Texas, 2000-2004, with visitors totaling 3,374,337 in those five years.
In the first season as a member of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League, 2005, another record year was achieved, with attendance of 700,277.  As of the 2007 season, the Round Rock Express had attracted more than 5.4 million fans to the Dell Diamond.

The ballpark was designed to be as “fan-friendly” as possible, and contains rocking chair 75 seats that are available in the areas around the baseball field near the berm.  There is more than adequate parking on the site with a lot that will house more than 4,000 vehicles.

The United Heritage Conference Center at the Dell Diamond is located on the first base side of the park.  This center has 10,000 square feet of space, room space, which is divided into three areas. The center also has a full service kitchen.

Beyond the right field grass berm area is a very nice built-in swimming pool.  Groups can ‘rent’ this 20 feet by 50 feet pool for an entire game.  There also a hot spa next to the pool, in addition to a covered picnic area.  Near the area of the pool, there is a playground area beyond the outfield that includes a sports court for basketball playing, several bungee jump trampolines, a moon jumper,  a nice wooden toddler playscape, and a simulated “rock wall” so that fans can test their climbing skills.

Behind the left field wall are the team batting cages and visiting and home player clubhouses.  Both the home and visiting team bullpens are just over the fence in each left and right field.

The Dell Diamond has a specially designed audio system to provide extreme clarity in all areas of the facility and offers the ultimate in video equipment with a state of the massive ‘jumbo-tron’ video screen over center field to complete the multi-media experience .

Dimensions of the playing field are 330 yards from home to the left-field line, 325 feet to the right field line, and 375 feet in the corridors and 407 feet at the deepest point of centerfield. Around the outfield, the wall is eight feet high.

Dell Diamond Stadium Design

The Dell Diamond stadium was designed to give fans a closer view of the action on the field. Fans in the front row behind home plate are actually closer to home plate than the pitcher on the mound! Mound to home plate distance is 60 feet 6 inches;  it’s just 55 feet from home plate to the front row behind home plate. Some of the fans sitting along the first and third base sides are less than 50 feet from the baselines.

The Dell Diamond was truly an “in house” project, where 80 percent of materials used in construction were purchased from suppliers in the state of Texas. The limestone rocks were brought from quarries in Jarrell and Cedar Park, Texas.  The Tifway 419 Bermuda grass covers the playing surface and was grown in Poteet, Texas.  The infield dirt is a clay product from Austin with other basic materials from Georgetown, TX.  The warning track material was provided by Strawn, Texas.

Although the baseball games of the Triple A team for the Texas Rangers are the main attraction at the Dell Diamond, it is also the place for fans of high school and college sports as play-offs for these leagues are often held at the park. There are also various concerts, car shows, and other events throughout the year.

You won’t find a better venue for family entertainment in all of Central Texas!

Round Rock Electricity is proud to whole-heartedly recommend the Round Rock Express for you and your family!
