What is ONCOR? - They Own the Equipment
ONCOR is the electric utility delivery company in Round Rock. ONCOR owns and operates the infrastructure of the system. They do not sell electricity; they maintain the equipment of the system, read meters, provide data, etc. The charges and fees assessed by ONCOR are regulated by the Public Utility Commission of Texas, and are outlined on all invoices regardless of your chosen utilities provider.
The ONCOR charges are considered “pass-thru,” meaning the billing company (commercial electricity provider) cannot and does not add anything to these regulated charges. Your commercial provider only lists these charges and fees on the bill.
An important point to understand here is that the ONCOR charges are NOT part of your retail provider’s energy charge or quoted rate.
The ONCOR charges can be as much as the charge for your actual electricity usage, and are sometimes considerably more. Some business customers are paying very high electricity rates and in those cases, comparatively, the ONCOR charges are lower.
This is an area where we can assist you. We are happy to take the time to answer your questions about this billing process. Just give us a call. You’ll find as others have, that we will not pressure you, or exaggerate any circumstance. We won’t ‘bad mouth’ your current provider; we’ll just provide you with the information, shoot straight, and leave the decisions to you. We’re here to help, and that’s Job 1 in our “handbook.”
